Firearms Safety Specialists NZ Limited (FSS NZ) is located in Wellington, New Zealand. A company founded by Nicole McKee based on her experience, knowledge, qualifications, integrity and honesty.

 

FSS NZ has experienced  and well known firearms safety consultants on board: Mike Pyatt, Mike Spray, Bryce Meredith and Joe Green. All of FSS NZ’s consultants have contributed to the literature that surrounds firearms safety in New Zealand including the New Zealand  Police Arms Code, firearms safety DVD and the firearms safety instructor guides.

 

As long term firearms safety instructors Nicole and her team have used their skills to teach firearms safety and have trained others to become instructors.  FSS NZ has delivered specialised firearms safety courses across New Zealand. The duration of these courses can run anywhere from 2 hours to 2 days and tailored to the client’s requirements.

 

FSS NZ courses focus on the behaviour of the handler and the safety considerations that person must make when using firearms. Emphasis is also placed on the firearms user’s legal obligations. The course can be extended to include basics on ammunition componentry reloading and shooting techniques.

 

Firearms Licencing courses and testing can be delivered as all of FSS NZ’s consultants hold New Zealand Police Firearms Safety Instructor Warrants issued to them under Regulation 14 of the Arms Regulations 1992. FSS NZ is the contact for businesses that require firearms safety knowledge covering firearms in the work place, health and safety training, travelling with firearms and assistance with storage requirements.

Nicole has held National and Regional shooting titles and is a New Zealand representative. Nicole captained and wind coached the New Zealand Ladies Rifle Team to a successful win against Australia in South Africa in 2013. She is  four times National champion in the New Zealand Service Rifle Association Championships shot at Waiouru Military Camp in the Bolt Action (as issued) Service class. She reloads her own centrefire ammunition for target, hunting and sporting uses.

 

Both Nicole and Mike Spray were previously the Firearms and Hunter Safety Programme Managers for MSC.  Nicole was also with Steve’s Wholesale Limited for 5 years, the New Zealand agent for the Hornady, Nosler, ADI brands and supplier of ammunition and reloading components to retailers.

 

Predominately a target shooter with the National Rifle Association of NZ, Nicole and her family are also members of New Zealand Deerstalkers Association, New Zealand and Wellington Service Rifle Associations, Wellington Rifle Association, Wellington Pistol Club, Pistol New Zealand, President of Karori Rifle Club, President of Melrose Smallbore Rifle Club, President of New Zealand Ladies fullbore shooters and is a Board member of COLFO (Council of Licenced Firearms Owners). Nicole also marks the Firearms Legislation & Safety course papers for the NZ Open Polytechnic.
